Choosing the Harder Right

This case study is provided to prompt conversations among NCOs and junior officers about facing a situation where a superior is directing you to falsify a report. We all understand the right thing to do here, but how do you actually do it? What are the likely consequences? And most importantly, how do we keep that situation from happening in the first place?

Materials:

  • A video with a platoon leader sharing a story about being told to falsify a protective equipment report.
  • A guide, which provides suggested discussion questions, transcripts of the videos, and a sample CBRN Defense Equipment Report.
  • War on the Rocks article “Lessons from Leading Up”, which provides another perspective on working in challenging situations with leaders.
