I like your METL slide. I think it is better than mine. I only stick with mine because it is the format Squadron conducts its briefs in and they brief to higher. I despise redoing slides for meetings. It is a huge pet peeve of mine. I can not stand watching 1SG reformat crew rosters every week because it has to go to someone. So I was trying to minimize that.

Same goes for your training snapshot. It is smooth and easy to read. Actually almost all of your slides are top notch and I would copy them if it was not for wanting to nest my slides into Squadron’s slide format.

I prefer to keep resourcing behind the actual week because my mind works sequentially and it seems off to finish talking about T+2 then six slides later come back to it.

I keep my training meetings open to points from anyone (as long as they are respectful) so I run it, but my XO and 1SG are always providing input. I direct everything that is clearly an XO lane to the XO. I pull him the most on planning on Troop training. He does not brief it, but is tied into how I think about training. 1SG, XO, and myself came up with the initial idea for TM/SQD LFX week. Subsequently, we pulled in the PLs and PSGs and talked it through to them and solicited feedback. We incorporated their ideas and it should be a good training event.

I also get nervous about abdicting to much to subordinates under the guise of developing them. I have become comfortable with incorporating them into everything, but if it is something that is clearly a commander lane (qualifying sections) I own it at the end. That being said I am having my XO evaluate Squads IAW T&EOs during the actual training. I will surpervise, but this will develop him because he saw how training is prepared, he runs resourcing, and evaluates Squad Leaders.

Sitting in the seat during the meetings again would establish him as the #2 in the Troop, but I do not think it would make him much better. He is already getting after in other ways.
