Additionally, I write as many OPORDs as I can. My PLs write their OPORDs for ranges. When it comes to STX or LFX, I will develop the scenario and issue a Troop OPORD (with help from XO and 1SG) and give it to the PLs and PSGs. They then issue down to the Section Sergeants. The Section Sergeants when we can issue their order formally. Team Leaders typically issue a FRAGORD during these events (It introduces them to giving a brief). I do this because it is the only way I can get repetitions prior to CALFEX and NTC.

As a Commander I have to be the most honest about what I need work on. I am not good enough to go a year (train up for CALFEX) without issuing an OPORD and doing well when it comes time.
