•Does your supervisor establish hard times for leaving home?

No one kicks me out of the office, but I routinely had to kick my Soldiers out at COB while in command. We were short personnel and if they stayed late to get the work done, I couldn’t justify my request for personnel. It’s also good not to burn people out early in their career, even if they’re willing.

•Do you establish a set time to depart work?

My goal is COB. Usually it winds up being at least 30 min later because there’s something I want to do.

•Do you change out of your uniform before commuting home?

No. I tried it for a little while, but it didn’t wind up saving time, and wound up being even more of a hassle bringing a change of clothes or forecasting the entire week’s worth of clothes (to save time).

•Do you leave admin work (such as award or eval writing) solely for home?

No. It happens at home, but the short stuff I’ll sign before leaving work (4187, leave, etc) and the longer stuff I’m more productive taking a working lunch or staying late than trying to avoid the distractions at home (dogs, Netflix, etc).

•Do you even opt to have a CAC reader at home?

Yes. It’s proven so useful that I have a spare, and have spent significant time troubleshooting through the iterations of how to do work while not at work.

•If you work in an environment where the resources are only at work (SCIF, Sharedrive, local software, etc), how do you balance Mission and Family / Personal Life?

Even working in a SCIF, most of the work was unclassified. It was not difficult to prioritize that which couldn’t come home while still at work.
