    I try to teach the biggies; SHARP, suicide prevention, and resilience at a minimum. Having served 22 years, I have a perspective not many CPT’s have. It’s fun watching the faces of new troops when we discuss how “life changing” or “bad” getting an article 15 can be, and I point out that it doesn’t have to destroy your life… You could get move past it, get promoted, get commissioned, and become a CPT and company commander briefing a resilience class. As a for instance.

    As for a theme, I try to continue the following through everything I do;

    You are not as alone as you may think;

    Everything you do affects other people;

    Have the courage to handle things at the lowest level;

    My door is always open and my phone always on.

    This has gotten me some pretty intense phone calls, but I know for a fact it’s also prevented at least 1 self harm incident, so worth it!
