I’m at OCS now and Ranger school is a huge deal to my peers and mentors.  I can’t see myself doing it as I’ve never been amazing at PT, but then I hear experiences like yours and from guys I know and feel motivated to do it.  I’d really have to train hard to get prepared physically though.

How did you prepare mentally?  I think if I physically get to a good point, I’d still have to push myself past, “I’m cold, sore, and sleepy.”

Why is it that Ranger school is a big deal though?  I read your reasoning, but still am curious.  I just don’t see any of my peers talking about going Special Forces with that same excitement they mention Ranger school with.  (None of my peers talk about going SF; just used it as an example).
