Last month I started a program with my Staff Duty where I gave them a Leadership article to reflect and write about. It was awesome to see the perspectives of Staff Sergeants and Sergeant First Class, but at times it came at a cost where some NCOs did not see the worth of the exercise.

I shared the responses with my Command Sergeant Major which allowed us to see where we needed to focus our efforts– they need to write so that they can write effective evaluations and counsel.

This program won’t stop and we hope to bring some of those who need help writing to better tis critical craft. We also hope to enhance the reflection process and apply some of their contributions to our battalion.
