Physical fitness is the single training activity that gets the most time each week. It’s also one of the most measurable and visible ways that senior commanders assess a unit’s readiness (although there’s ample room for discussion about the merits and methods of this). As a platoon leader, PT is a simple way to immediately establish credibility quickly.

In this thread, I’d like to solicit your examples of products, memos, or other resources for creating unit fitness plans. There must be a nearly limitless supply of this information within the JO community.

Similarly, there must be a near endless list of frustrations, so share those, too.

—A bit about me, although you wouldn’t know it from my skinny build, PT is something that I take very seriously. I’ve attended Sapper Leader Course, Ranger School, Special Forces Assessment and Selection, and the Special Forces Qualification Course. I’ve also helped dozens of other leaders build plans for their units and teams to prepare for deployments or other rigorous courses. As a CO, my company led the brigade in unit fitness and was the only company to earn the PT streamer. I’m not an expert, but I can confidently say that I have lots of experience in this area and I’m eager to share it.
