You can take this farther than simply “command philosophy,” and put in broader terms as Leadership Philosophy. Attached is mine from when I  was a PL (yes, PL). I know not many platoon leaders get this in depth, but from my experience having my philosophy on paper, as something that could be held, looked at and discussed with the Soldiers paid dividends during our deployment. Why? Simple, it wasn’t just a bunch of words about what I expected from Joe, but it was also what they could expect from me. It became our contract that we all had to live up to. I have adapted this same format to the various staff positions as well, and will take it (in a form) into command.
