I think the book list has been pretty exhaustive, but if I could add one more reading topic to the list, it would be Daniel Goleman’s article, “Leadership that Gets Results.” It’s a relatively short read (30 minutes to an hour for most people), and it covers some pretty worthwhile aspects for junior leaders. It covers emotional intelligence, leadership styles, aspects of climate, and how styles affect climate. I used the article to create a climate survey/leadership reflection document that I passed out early in my Command to help me get an understanding of the leaders in and the climate of my formation. I’ve attached that survey if anyone would like to reference it, and I’d gladly take feedback on it.
