I try to rotate between history/military, current events, and leadership but I tend to gravitate towards books that focus on leadership and leader development. My last two books were George Marshall: A Biography by Debi and Irwin Unger and Start With Why by Simon Sinek (both gifts from a mentor). I highly recommend both! I am currently reading How Everything Became War and the Military Became  Everything  by Rosa Brooks.

I will say that I attempted and failed miserably at implementing a reading program as a company commander. From that experience, I am determined to start a successful voluntary reading program as an S3/XO. I think reading programs are great mediums to generate discussion and get people to think about events and topics outside of their everyday job.
