Up front, I’m definitely one of those extroverts that @cplenge is talking about when it comes to having to check myself to ensure I’m actually getting work done as opposed to always running around trying to stay “engaged.” With that being said, I agree that  you have to know yourself and how your personality type/leadership style affects your formation. Once you are on solid ground there, find out how your NCO counterpart leads and what their personality type is. Hopefully you have an innate complimentary style/type, but if you don’t, you’ll need to address that as a team.

At the end of the day, you have to be “extroverted” enough to be at the right place, at the right time, and issue proper guidance to your formation. Staying engaged with your higher HQs and the personnel within your formation ensures you’re able to do that. So as long as you’re not a hermit (which, given your presence on this forum, you’re probably not), you should be able to meet your objectives. What the senior NCO may have noted was that the individual in question may not be sufficiently/properly engaged, which is obviously unacceptable.
