I just sent two recent OCS grads to Fort Lee (TC, QM, and OD). It seems all three basic branches are going TDY Enroute at this time and having them live in the lodging on post or setting them up in an off-post hotel. At least that’s what both of them are being told at ALU (both QM).

If someone has the opportunity to live off-post and not in a hotel, there are a couple of decent options. Just out the gate by the PX are a couple of apartment complexes friends have stayed in and given positive reviews. Outside the ALU gate is Aqua, which is nice but I’ve been told is a little on the expensive side.

Downtown Petersburg has changed a lot over the last few years. Mayton Transfer Lofts is a really nice place, and the rent includes some of the utilities. I had several classmates at LOG-C3 stay there and rave about it. Within walking distance are several restaurants, a great bakery, and two breweries. All about 15 minutes from ALU.
