The tags that appear on a post/reply are the ones that have been applied throughout the thread, meaning that if the original post had a tag of “OPCON” then all of the replies after that will also be tagged with OPCON.  For example, this reply has the following tags associated with it even though I haven’t added any.  This is done so that when a member searches for items tagged “bug hunter” for example, this post and all of its replies with be returned in the search results.

Additionally, new tags can be added as well, as you’ll notice I’ve added “taginfo” as a tag on this reply.
