    1. My previous brigade had gone through such a push to adjust to decisive action. Not having deployed after 2013, they had plenty of time but still seemed that some leaders could not get out of the COIN/Stability mentality. While at NTC, I’ve never seen a commander look so forward to seizing a city over fighting enemy forces out in the central corridor. The transition in my opinion has been tough, as JRTC and NTC try to give a well rounded experience, but for the most part are often a great way to shock a force into understanding their true abilities in a DA fight. From my very narrow viewpoint, I would say that while an understanding of how to fight DA is there, senior leaders are still working to reframe their mindsets to that. There should definitely be an urgency to refine and improve our tactics. That same commander, while in the train up for NTC, would not accept a scenario of a 1:1 force ratio and ridiculed me for discussing it. As a 2LT this was a surprise. Assuming that the Army will always have 3:1 ratio was a surprising level of confidence.

    2. Personally, I would say that tactics and developing personal tactical knowledge is a weakness. In my opinion, a junior leaders ability to goto the field and just learn through mistakes and experience is generally limited.

    3. From the one NTC rotation I conducted and the JRTC rotation I have augmentee-OCT, CTC was an awesome time to test my and my units abilities. Its whether a unit learns and takes the lessons home that really matter and that’s all the command climate.

Sorry, I don’t think I have any ‘products’ or resources that could help with this. Just my two cents.
