The Marines United Facebook scandal brings to light a contemporary problem all branches of the U.S. military must face: what responsibilities do military leaders have within the sphere of social media?

As junior leaders, we are the ones who are around Soldiers on a daily basis. What responsibilities should junior leaders reasonably have in regards to our Soldiers and social media? How do we teach the idea of professionalism to our younger Soldiers/leaders so they avoid participating in social media activities that contradict our values? How can we positively use social media to enhance our units and our profession?
