<p class=”MsoNormal”>I do believe that the army leadership model accounts for emotional intelligence in the operational, institutional and self-development domain.  However, I believe that it is mainly developed via experience.  Although emotional intelligence can be taught or trained I believe that is mainly developed by one’s experiences.  I believe in many ways all of the attributes of emotional intelligence are intangibles.  Things like motivation, empathy, social skills, and self-awareness/regulation are things that people inherently do or do not have and are difficult to measure.  However, these thing can be built on and improved.  Being put in certain situations whether intentionally or unintentionally can develop these attributes.  This is why I believe emotional intelligence comes mainly from the operation and self-development domain.  The institutional domain helps awareness of emotional intelligence via education.  However, in order to increase emotional intelligence one needs to be put in leadership and social situations as well as situations that require discipline. these situations can develop the attributes such as motivation, social skills, empathy, and self-awareness/regulation.  Then the self-development domain comes in, the person needs to reflect on their weaknesses and how he or she and improve them.  Although it is difficult to measure or quantify the attributes of emotional intelligence I believe they can be grouped to some degree as good or bad by oneself or others.</p>
