The first response to this was great. As a prior Company Commander who had a (fun) time with property here is my advice.

-If your property changes a lot, get comfortable as quickly as possible with systems used to generate new hand receipts

-Be extremely organized when keeping hard copies. A good practice is to keep the current month’s DA3061s (interim issue document) in a separate binder and then cross check the previous month’s hand receipt with the new month and make sure all changes were caught.

-If you’re really worried (or thorough) create an inventory inspection plan where you check something almost every day. The 10% cyclical per month is just the minimum. If you can check 3% per day you’d check almost everything every month. Easy to say, probably harder to do.
