I think that leaders should be somewhat vulnerable because no leader is ever 100% perfect. Leaders learn from their mistakes and become better leaders because of it. I think that good leaders are not afraid to admit that they are wrong and will gracefully correct themselves. When you are vulnerable it shows that you are just like everyone else, it shows that you are a human being and not just a superior.
As leaders we are always being watched. I agree with the article “You Are Being Watched — A Lesson in Example” as I like to lead by example. I believe that leading by example is one of the best ways to influence others, as people observe you every day. Today, social media dominates our lives and affects how others view you. Even though you may not physically be at work, what is on social media reflects you as a person, whether you believe that or not. Posting on social media allows for others to make their own assumptions and perceptions of you. Social media can negatively impact you, as your superiors or subordinates may see something that could potentially harm your career, such as pictures of you partying or an inappropriate political post. I agree that as a leader you are always watched and therefore should be conscious of your actions so that you positively influence those around you, however do not be afraid to make mistakes as that is one of the best ways to improve as a leader.
