Howdy, I’m Patrick Moore, and I have been involved in the forums since late 2009. I’ve been interested in like-minded communities of practice for a while, and used to be pretty active at ArmyOCS.Com, however I saw an email in 2009 that asked for participation at Platoon Leader and the rest is history.
I’m YG07, Infantry turned 57A (Modeling and Simulation), New Jersey National Guard, and excited for the new forums.
I’ve been an anti-armor PL, maintenance PL, executive officer, and company commander in an Infantry Battalion, and a maintenance control officer and platoon leader in a Brigade Support Battalion.
I deployed to Iraq in 08-09 as a platoon leader and to Bahrain in 14-15 as a task force commander dual hatted as the N3/SECO (Security Officer) for US Naval Forces Central Command-Detachment Isa.
My current position is (now lost on MTOE but still holding the job) Battle Command Officer/Mission Command Integrator, Knowledge Management Officer, and staff Red Teamer.
In the civilian world I run the project management office of a large (850+employee) program management/engineering/and architecture firm.
The forums were a huge help in my preparation for XO and command, and I believe were a significant contribution to my overall success, which in turn set my subordinates up for further successes in my career. This isn’t just the TTP side, but also the peer relationships made through my involvement that allowed me to turn to an objective mentor that would let me get things off my chest.
Love all sorts of conversations, and more than willing to help on leader, command, and staff topics. For those that are just now starting to hear about knowledge management as part of mission command and would like to discuss, and those on the Guard/Reserve side facing those special challenges, let’s light this place on fire!
