I’ve been looking at these articles the last few days and while I don’t think I am smart enough to come up with a whole other thread and conversation about these, I will say that I find it interesting that a number of different units, organizations, and MOS’s are responsible for the gathering of intelligence and conduct of various forms of reconnaissance. The need to create a succinct and more… linear thread of control over recon assets I think will be important in the multi-domain fight. Now a days every battalion wants to set their own NAI/TAIs but I think BDE needs to control that a lot better and dictate much of the intel focus. If you set what you want recon focusing on, you set what you want to learn about the battle and will find answers to your questions. The old COIN-mentality of let everyone have a little of everything weakens a BDE CDRs ability to fight his fight and shape the battle to meet his vision.

I can’t speak to much to the “fighting the plan”. I agree, but unfortunately I don’t feel I have enough experience to draw upon other than to say it certainly never felt like BDE was doing anything other than driving straight across the desert right at the enemy.
