My platoon of mechanics has been more than abused by higher to get pacing vehicles/equipment FMC, meet service schedule deadlines, etc. One small thing that my platoon sergeant and I did, with help from squad leaders, was to have regularly have platoon BBQs or pizza in the motorpool. It saves the Soldiers having to spend their own money, they have the chance to relax, it fosters camaraderie, and despite how small a gesture it may seem, it goes a long way towards showing them that you appreciate them and their work.
