I had to command an HHC as a 1LT for three months when I was an XO (my commander got fired), so I completely understand your worry about people out-ranking you. Do not worry about your rank, you are the commander. If you find staff officers and NCOs that are not being cooperative, let your BN XO know. She/he is your best friend in making the staff do the things that have to be done. HHC is one of the hardest commands to have because you have to be creative in the way you get buy-in from all the staff officers.

One way that I got buy-in is to find out what each shop needs and see how you can influence your other company commanders to help the staff get their job done. I always found when I helped them, they would (albeit reluctantly) help me out.
