There are many additional duties for officers, and soldiers in general, based on rank and specialty. One additional duty that a new officer, or seasoned, is nearly guaranteed to be appointed is to be an Investigating Officer (IO). I think that we have a responsibility to all parties involved in an incident to be as informed as possible.
It is best to have the resources and knowledge in our hip pocket rather than feeling unprepared, uneducated and overwhelmed when we get the call we are an IO. What are the regulations, forms, and resources available to Officers for the investigative process?
Look forward to hearing everyone’s input on the topic.
