Thanks for posting.  I’d actually been struggling with this a bit recently.  While I may be “OOO” I still tend to keep up with email and respond when needed.  I stopped using the OOO message if I was planning on responding, but this article gave me a new way of looking at it as a way to let people know my response time will be slower than usual and set a better expectation.

I also like the idea of injecting a little more humor and fun into my response, at least in my civilian employment. I’m learning to lighten up a little more now that I have a civilian job.  Do you think that would go over very well with .mil email? We are trying to embrace the new influx of millennials, but we are still very much ruled by a very conservative and traditional organizational culture.
