Professional reading provides an individual with vast amounts of information on whatever topics they find interesting. In the case of professional reading I believe we are trying to minimize the same mistakes that others have already made and put to use ways in which others have been successful. We are not always going to find the perfect answer when reading for personal development but it provides us with more of an opportunity to succeed. I believe this is an essential piece to improving upon ones leadership skills. Books (non-fiction or fiction) can teach us lessons and help us to figure out who we are. I believe our own life experiences are more valuable in figuring out ourselves but professional reading is not far behind.

Leisure time is usually something a college student does not have a lot of. This can hinder an individuals interest in professional reading. A way to get around this is to read a little bit at a time. Whether it is one page or ten pages you are still moving forward. Consistency is they key. Leisure reading is not something that has to be done right away as reading for school usually requires. Just like with a PT score, the more you consistently work at something the closer you are to reaching that goal.

If someone consistently reads it does not automatically make them a great leader. Some people are born with tremendous leadership skills and they may have not read a book outside of Dr. Seuss. However, consistently reading will not hinder an individuals ability to be a great leader. Michael Jordan was a great athlete but he had to practice to be the GOAT.
