The FM 3-0 update is sort of important, because if you combine that with the new Multi Domain Battle draft put out, we can see where we are trying to go. Plus, doctrine is always years behind where we all think it needs to be, so we should constantly review ourselves and try to improve our doctrine, which is supposed to be the basis for everything. But like others have said, it will take years for the trickle down to occur. Leaders remember the words and acronyms they learned at their last school or deployment. It is up to us junior officers to politely correct them, and gently remind them how old they are.

However, I feel most cautiously optimistic about the soon-to-be modernization command. While that will take also years to come to fruition, if it is executed correctly, it could rapidly modernize our force. Rapidly=by the time Multi Domain Battle is the old term. But, since we were using Abrams before AirLand Battle, that would not be so bad. Also, since we are soon getting a new pistol and possibly a new rifle before this decade is out, we could see a significant amount of key systems modernized in the next five years. Cautious optimism.
