HAMMER: As UN forces marched north, there was evidence of the Chinese joining the conflict. Despite the evidence, General MacArthur and his staff believed “the Chinese would not dare intervene” They assessed that they lacked the Military capability to bring significant forces into the conflict and even if that was possible the US air superiority would make quick work of them. What do you think we are “wishing away”? What are capability or piece of equipment are we putting too much reliance on?</span>

There are many issues we are “wishing away” in modern times. Our current Army is very reliant on our power distribution systems and the ability to quickly distribute information throughout the battlefield nearly instantaneously. We currently conduct nearly no training on how to properly handle a shut down or breach of our systems. We assume our encrypted JCRs, Radios, and CPOFs are secure that if there these systems were ever to be compromised or shut down we would struggle to effectively communicate throughout the battlefield.

We put to much reliance on the above mentioned systems. If our JCRs did not properly feed the locations of our units to the CPOF which feeds into the COP on BDEs trackers we would have very little situational awareness of the locations for the units below us. Our lack of ability to accurately submit reports via JCR or radio clearly demonstrates how reliant we are on these systems to fill in the gaps that we leave out.
