To start, I don’t believe many of the US forces were prepared to be there. Most of them were just counting the days until they could go home and this contributed to how prepared they were. Their equipment was not being well maintained and minimal training was being conducted. The US forces did not have the necessary supplies to repel an NKPA strike and many at the time did not even imagine an attack occurring. On the other hand, the NKPA had been building and consolidating their forces in preparation of an attack, ultimately striking when it was least expected and many of the US forces were away from their stations. Once the attack began there was no real plan in place to facilitate the movement of crucial troops and supplies.
