    FSC:

1: Chinese forces were extremely well disciplined and well trained. After having spent the years fighting the Japanese during the onset of the second world war and the brutality of the communist revolution the Chinese military was hardened to both the atrocities of war and the harsh north east Asian weather.  Native troops continually have an advantage, and the Chinese knowledge of both the terrain, and weather gave them a marked advantage over UN forces.  They were able to move more efficiently at night and knew areas in which they could conceal themselves from enemy surveillance during periods of higher visibility.

2: Much like the Russians in the second world war the lower emphasis of the value placed on a human life in Chinese culture as opposed to western culture allowed the Chinese to accept greater tactical risks and casualties.  State sponsored media meant that the Chinese government controlled the stories that got out to their public, they could spin the story however they wanted.

3: Overland resupply in the 1950s was decidedly easier than naval or aerial resupply on a macro scale, due to China’s proximity to the Korean Peninsula equipment, manpower, and provisions could be easily shipped into the theater.  This contrasted UN forces who; while able to pull resources from a multitude of nations across the globe had to bring them in via ship or plane which was considerably slower than the Chinese.
