Charlie: What do you think soldiers thought of their leadership at this point in the war? Why?

Upon the initial movement north, I think that morale was pretty high amongst the troops. However, as time went on and cold, inclement weather began to set in and the units began sustaining heavy losses, morale took a downturn. The soldiers encountered the rough terrain of the mountains and this combined with the increasingly difficult weather began to heavily impact the speed of the northern push. There seemed to be a distinct disconnect between the soldiers on the ground and the higher up leadership. The leaders such as GEN Almond, only saw the continued offensive movement forward, most of them were not enduring the hardships on the ground and seeing their buddies suffering and dying around them.
