How does it change, had the mission gone otherwise?

MacArthur’s steadfast insistence on the Inchon landing was the right decision as a leader and if the mission had gone otherwise his decision to invade would still have been the right one. UN and South Korean forces needed a victory to stem the onslaught North Korean aggression at this point in the conflict. MacArthur realized that unless UN forces could make a stand they would lose. He also knew that such an aggressive action might be just the push his forces needed to turn the tide of war. If he had lost the invasion his decision to attack was still a good decision. MacArthur took the initiative and did what others disagreed with at the time. Instead of indecision, he decided to act and by doing so turned the tide of the war and gave UN forces a true victory.
