    Fires:

The Chinese followed their own “Policy of Tolerance” rather than recognizing the Geneva Conventions, it was based on Confucian traditions.  The breakdown of discipline in POWs was not the intended effect, but was rather a secondary effect of the inhumane treatment afforded to UN and Korean POWs.  The maintenance of purpose and morale in this situation would be an extreme challenge.  Without any knowledge of the outside world or the events, or progress of the war it would be hard to motivate captured soldiers to “keep their head in the game.” Possible measures to increase morale and resiliency if the opportunity allowed would be planning contingencies for escape and certain circumstances.  By doing this you keep the men mentally engaged, and gives them something to strive for and focus on. This is however merely conjecture.
