S3: What warfighting functions contributed most to Americans’ continual defeat and withdrawal to the Pusan Perimeter in the summer of 1950? Answer generally or focus mainly on Task Force Smith for examples to support your analysis.

It seems that all of the warfighting functions contributed greatly to the failures and continual defeat of the US.  After the US returned from World War II, most of the experience left the Army.  Having leaders who lacked the experience contributed to failures all across the battlefield.  Task Force Smith was a prime example of these failures across the board.  The mission at hand was already beyond the capabilities of a single battalion, but adding on the inexperience of the Soldiers only made it more unlikely to be attainable.  Task Force Smith was only the first example of the failures that were to come for the Americans.  The lack of fires, intelligence, mission command, sustainment, movement and maneuver, and protection led to the NKPA holding the UN and South Korean forces on the brink of defeat at the Pusan Perimeter.
