I’m a NG Aviator getting ready to transition out of PL time in the line unit to BN Staff. This will not be my first tour with BN Staff so I am comfortable operating there, but this time it will be as the BN S-2. I’ve done some research and while it’s easy to find MI and S-2 centric information for ground units, it seems much harder to find anything tailored (at least recent and relevant information) to Aviation S-2 shops.

One of the things that will make this transition harder is the lack of battle handoff. Our previous S-2 and the AS-2 have both recently left the unit, so there is a complete void of officers from which to get some OJT. Luck would also have it that previous BN S-2s are now also long since moved on to other states, units, or out of the Guard entirely. That and the remainder of the section are also junior M-Day soldiers without a lot of experience.

All of that said, any information that could help this poor Aviator prepare would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks!
