ABLE: What is your response to the steadfastness of MacArthur’s insistence on the Inchon landing? How does it change, had the mission gone otherwise?

MacArthur made a gamble and it paid off. Had the operation gone poorly his stubborness would have been seen by later generations as the foolhardy insistings of an old man, luckily for him it worked out. The job of leaders is to measure out the possibilities and assume calcualted risk to accomplish the mission. It is difficult and dangerous to judge the decisions made by others in the past when we have the benefit of hindisght and the exampnded unerstanding of far mor of the factors at play than then decision makers did in the moment.
