S3: What warfighting functions contributed most to Americans’ continual defeat and withdrawal to the Pusan Perimeter in the summer of 1950? Answer generally or focus mainly on Task Force Smith for examples to support your analysis.

Besides coming as a genuine surprise to the ROK Army and the US Army stationed in Korea, the attack from the North Korean Army was well planned, equipped, and executed to overtake the weak, unorganized South. The heavily armored north, consisting of more than double the men, barreled south in strong tanks. The south, without a single anti-tank mine or air support, were shocked that the north did not turn around. The only thing the south had was confidence, though they had neither the artillery nor the manpower to support it. With the general American public believing the real war was over, there was little funding or support left to actualize and distribute the new technological advances that had been developed since WWII. Sadly, it became apparent all too late, mid-battle, and cost countless lives.
