S3: This section contains accounts of very competent brigade and battalion leadership under immense pressure. Choose a leader from this section and write about how their example contributed to the success of their unit in the action discussed in Chapters 22-24. Leaders include COL Freeman, LTC Faith, LTC Ray Murray (USMC).

LTC Faith went above and beyond his initial responsibilities. LTC Faith was in command of the 1st Battalion 31st Regiment and upon the death of COL MacLean, LTC Faith assumed command of the 1st Battalion 32nd regiment as well. In their push north to the Yalu River, Task force Faith was met by several fronts of CCF. Faith and his troops were grievously hurt, experiencing gaps in their front, and badly shaken, realizing that the pressure from the CCF was not from a fleeting enemy. Similar reports of a fleeting enemy were given to Faith. Despite the realization that CCF was not in retreat, LTC Faith continued with the mission toward the Yalu river. His focus remained on the mission even while receiving a Silver Star from GEN Almond. LTC Faith drew no attention to this award and immediately went about his mission. As far as reaching the Yalu River, LTC Faith was not successful as the CCF became to much and he had to retreat his forces. It was during that retreat that LTC Faith lost his life due to an enemy grenade. LTC Faith fought and led his troops to the very end of his life.
