Fires: The Chinese treated all POWs the same regardless of rank. This resulted in the degradation of discipline among POWs. Do you think this was the intended outcome or just 2nd and 3rd order effects? In addition what would you do to combat the loss of morale among POWs?

There is no argument the treatment towards POWs is this war was considered a horrific tragedy  and unmoral.    this treatment displayed by both the north Koreans, and the Chinese was because of the several conflicts and war in the region prier to the Korean War.  These principles and culture were learned over a hard and gruesome reality that was being a POW during the Japanese occupation of the region. Thus,  I believe that the Chinese did not intend this to happen it was the only way that which they knew how to treat POWs.  But, there is no doubt that this tactic degraded to the risk and or threat of a prisoner uprising do to the lack of leadership and willingness to work together to accomplish anything other than self preservation. with regards to increasing moral if I was in that situation,  I would try and keep the soldiers focused on the future and getting out of the POW camp.  I feel like if you are in that situation of you are just constantly focused on your helpless and dismal circumstances then that is when you lose hope and moral.
