The Chinese treated all POWs the same regardless of rank. This resulted in the degradation of discipline among POWs. Do you think this was the intended outcome or just 2nd and 3rd order effects? In addition what would you do to combat the loss of morale among POWs?

The fact that the similar treatment of POWs resulted in the degradation among them was the result of the North Koreans and Chinese past experiences as POW. The Japanese treated the he North Koreans and Chinese similarly so naturally they adopted a similar system for POWs. This was not the intened outcome just the 2nd and 3rd order effects of this history. It would is difficult to state what i would do as a POW in this situation due to no experience. However, I would try my best to keep everyone focused on a couple goals. My number 1 goal will be take care of the soldiers. Next, will be discovering a method of escape or release for as many people as possible. Finally, finding setting a daily objective in order to keep morale high and soldiers focused.
