Able: Which “Lesson” from the author do you most strongly agree or disagree with? Why?

In my opinion the lesson I most agree with from the author is the need for ‘legions’. The United States fought on the policy of containment. In this it was successful, but at a great cost. However, by doing this the nation sends the message that democracy and her interests will not surrender. The only reason was the United States was able to be successful was because young men answered the call and gave their lives for the nation. To implement policy, the country needs Soldiers. These Soldiers need to be physically and mentally tough. In order to build our Soldiers they need hard, realistic, and meaningful training.

Colonel Adams mentioned at the Warrior Strike AAR, there’s a lot of white noise but our days should be focused on training our teams and building our organizations; for them to be ready to answer the call and survive in war. Similarly, the author says, ‘the biggest lesson from Korea is that it happened’. This shows how the course of history can change in a matter of minutes, especially when we are dealing with an irrational actor. The only course of action is the train and prepare for the worst. To focus our efforts in maintaining readiness and creating effective and deadly organizations.
