Hello Leaders,

I am stepping in as the new community leader for “Planning” here in the Junior Officer Forums. I am an Armor Officer by trade but have served primarily in Infantry billets in our Stryker formations.  Armor Branch is making sure I have a very clear understanding that getting back on the turret is non-negotiable during the next PCS move.

I am passionate about planning because it ensures we maximize time and resources to achieve end states. It prevents us from wasting our Soldiers time and their lives unnecessarily.

I look forward to discussing planning as the Army adopts OBJ-T and with the relatively recent releases of some key doctrinal publications in the last year+ that relate to planning such as FM 3-0, Operations and FM 7-0, Train to Win in a Complex World.

While I will rely heavily on Army publication and policy to frame discussion, I will also introduce topics which deal with how to develop and train planners as well as planning tools and techniques with references to some professional bloggers who write better and are more interesting than me.
