@brock.j.young – I think you bring up great points and lessons learned for future commanders to reflect upon!
1. I like how you were a sponge collecting all information prior to assuming command. I think your reflection prior to assuming command was a great way to frame your approach.
2. “My Leadership Philosophy became the foundation of my command.” I think you highlight the importance of having a leadership philosophy but also being consistent. Messaging is very important and something I forgot to mention.
3. Read doctrine and regulations. I agree with you as well that I could have done more reading on my part of specific systems and their capabilities.
That being said, what as a combat MP Company Commander what “nuts and bolts” / regulations do you wish you would have read? Do you have any documents that helped prepare.
