So I am currently at my 2nd PL spot at a BCT. I started at C MED Treatment platoon and I thought that was really hard, although the C MED Commander did all the explaining and briefings to the Battalion Commander, I was ultimately responsible of giving the CO my plan on where and how i’m setting up the Role 2. Now, I am at a Squadron like yourself, and the dynamics are fully different. I’m expected to be at every staff meeting, and still lead my platoon. And AMEDD BOLC did not teach us this shit at all, other than maybe doing a MEDCOP at the computer. Both positions was basically an on the job training, but the biggest difference was that I received more support at C MED than I do now at a Squadron since we are less of a priority or they really didn’t know how we function.

    Now to answer your questions.

Management of a Staff/PL Combo is hard, so I heavily rely on my PSG and NCOs to keep the Platoon afloat. I pass down the info I create or receive from the meetings ASAP, and they execute. I like sitting down with the NCOs and we come up with a plan as a whole. Everytime a troop trains, their leadership lets me know so I can send them the line medics attached to them so they can have their input or get used to their people. I also closely communicate with the SXO and HHT CO as they are my constant supporters. Every other management piece, I take care of off business hours so I end up staying slightly later than everyone else on a daily basis.
