Are there any heavy weapons PL’s or former heavy weapons PL’s who have any advice on establishing platoon SOP’s with fire commands and fire controls measures? I’m a heavy weapons PL in the National Guard and our training is limited mostly due to the fact that we’re part-time, but also because our training year has been focused on the individual level so we have not had many opportunities to conduct training missions on the platoon/company level. I’ve been tasked with the planning of quartering parties, company AA’s, hasty and deliberate attacks, and FARP/CLP. If anyone has any SOP advice or any general advice for any of these tasks I would greatly appreciate it.

My company uses standard IBCT formations. Each platoon consists of four trucks with a mounted weapon and a fifth without a weapon that is technically supposed to be used by the PL, but it is usually given to the PSG for MEDEVAC/CASEVAC and CCP purposes. We use the CROWS (Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station) systems and each truck consists of a driver, gunner, and vehicle commander. Dismounts will be METT-TC and SOP dependent. Mounted weapons consist of M-249, M-240, M2, MK-19, and TOW missile.
