LT McDonough express frustration with his fellow Platoon Leaders of his company. Do you think his frustration warranted? Is his treatment of his peers appropriate?

I agree his frustration is warranted. I think that he could have handled it differently but at the moment he was upset after being put in such a compromising position. Smalley reacted like his section was the only one tired and that was a legitimate excuse for failing to stay away when they were set up to link.

I think when it comes to your peers you can be more open about your thoughts and concerns. I also believe because it is his peers he has this level of expectation from them. LT McDonough went out on missions with his men, he was just as exhausted and he maintain focused on his duty and part of that was staying awake. Is it too much to ask that of your peers?

Positive leadership can be interpreted in many ways. I think that in his case he was speaking of the focus he had on the missions he was placed in and never really let the negativity of being in a uncomfortable place get the best of him. Negativity can be very contagious and joes tend to feed off each other. As leaders we must be the ones to set the tone and in order to keep morale, motivation, and productivity high we must be the ones to stay positive.
