@adam.szcypka – ahh, I think I understand now. So you’re using “it wins wars” as the can-opener to get people riled up and engaged in the topic. Yes?

I’m finding this a challenging topic, for sure. Hopefully that means you will get a great discussion out of the LPD! I admit that I’m not following your arguments very well. I’m guessing these are short versions of your notes? A few suggestions to help you prepare to not only talk this but engage in conversation over it is to continually break it down (think Outline Form for note taking), identifying the assumptions and ideas you’re using and why. Also, I’d recommend using catchphrases only after you’ve identified an idea (and overall in a limited fashion). For example, explaining the idea of what “commanders brief red” means, and then saying, “one phrase we have for this ‘commanders brief red’. This summarizes the idea that commanders take responsiblity…” etc. Then everyone is on the same page about the slang you’re using. I’d suggest that if you ask if people know the phrase, people will nod heads. But if you break it down, a few people will walk away thinking it mean something different. It is hard to violate group dynamics in an LPD (especially if its a group of peers and so there is an expectation that you’re at a certain level, even of just acronym knowledge), so spelling things out for people keeps everyone on the same plane, forces you to lock down your argument / slow yourself down, and enables more participation. As you’ve pointed out, it can also produce discussion if it is a controversial aspect. (e.g. “hey sir, I disagree with your definition of X. You didn’t account for Y. NCOs don’t do that… – or – NCOs will do that, but only when needed”).
