In the short amount of time as a junior officer my experience and relationship with my PSGs have been diverse. I’ve had 4 different PSGs all with different leadership styles and work ethic. The best advice I can give to other junior officers is have the ability to adapt and learn from your NCOs.

To answer your question I believe the relationship between an officer and NCO should be peer to peer. This allows for trust to build between the officer and NCO much faster. The foundation in a peer to peer leadership style is trust. However, as many of you have mentioned already trust but variety. As the officer you are still responsible for everything your soldiers complete or not complete.
