    Team,

I came across this community on the google machine while researching the process to switch over to Active Duty from the Reserves. I’m currently a 1LT and I’ll submit my CPT board later this month. I enlisted in 2010 and in Spring of 2011 I signed my ROTC Non-Scholarship contract. I commissioned in 2013 and my Expiration Statutory Military Obligation date is 08/12/2021. I had no bonus’ awarded to me when I enlisted or when I commissioned and ROTC did not pay for my college. In a nutshell, I “technically” don’t owe anything back to the Reserves in those aspects, since I didn’t “take money” from them. (If that makes sense) I recently put in a conditional release packet to switch over to Active Duty in order to submit a Warrant Officer packet. USAREC denied my conditional release with the reasoning they don’t want to “lose their numbers.” Now since I’m over half way through my 8 year obligation I figured that I would be in the clear to switch over to Active Duty, that’s obviously not the case. So my question …. in the year 2021 (when my military obligation will expire) will I be able to switch over to active duty then? Since I fulfilled my time with the Reserves? Has anyone heard of this happening or know someone who has don’t this?

Thanks in advance for all the help!
