DRMO can be a great resource along with your PBO. While you may not be able to purchase everything you need to meet your training requirements you might find something that can be a combat multiplier through DRMO. Most supply personnel know of DRMO for turning in equipment that is no longer required or serviceable. However, one doesn’t always think of DRMO when planning for training. After finding out about DRMO we consulted with DRMO for the supplies/equipment needed for training and or for unit readiness. We had a limited budget when I was a maintenance company commander, platoon leader, and S4 and we had tools but the toolboxes we had were made of plastic and often became unserviceable or unlockable. We utilized DRMO to find serviceable toolboxes, tools, and or other things in order to have a way to secure our tools, find equipment we needed and to increase our unit readiness with zero cost to the unit budget.  They weren’t always what we were authorized to have or supposed to have but they at least worked as a temporary stopgap in order to accomplish the mission until funds became available.
